Now lets get up to date.
The majority of the crabs have just went thru a shed and are a little light, but they are hungry now. The reports have been getting better and better every day. I wish I could give you a recent on the water report, but this is the best I have to offer you m friend. Good luck and post some pics.

Doing beyond good but not great in the far reaches of the Shrewsbury. Bunker is best right now.

Gerry,
Crabs went through a shed week and half ago at least in Navesink. Been on some good numbers in red bank area, less than that toward oceanic bridge. A lot of small ones and practically no females. Handlining and wall picking, no traps and been coming home with 2-3 dozens for 2-3 hours of work. Report as of this weekend. Good luck if you go out, Saturday looking good.

How often to crabs shed as thought it was also tied to full and new moons?
Thx

Got a friend in Brick. He went out saturday, the 13th, caught 18 in 2-3 hours. All on bunker

It's not all that synchronized they all do it at the same time.
You'll get shedders with the stripes on the carapace and that's in a few more tides not necessarily synchronized to a full moon.

Crabbing was good yesterday. Decent size crabs but it looks like we will have to wait until Sept-Oct for the bigger ones.

Nice day on the Navesink but crabbing was a dud.... Had some great action as soon as we arrived but it tapered off to nothing quickly.. Made a wiggle to a little deeper water to see if that would help but no go...My Grandson Crabber in training had a blast.

Interesting Gerry,
Where were you up in Navsinck?
Was out on Saturday, and noticed had to put out a lot of work. COuldnt find a place that held them, so pretty much ended up just jumping from one spot to another. Had some nice ones come out, but a lot of them were missing one claw. Competition is fierce this days.
Back home for a little snack:

Only will get better with hotter days ahead.
