Hey fellow fishing tackle degenerates, and former fishing associates, Capn JJ here after about a three year absence from posting due to a complete lack of fishing adventures. That changes today....

Left the Squan at 000-God awful-hours courtesy of Captain Ron and first mate Stephanie....this was my first time with these folks and read forward to see my opinions of the operation.

Was an invite to a select, Covid-related, minimized group of salty dogs that consisted of GDUBS (the newly-elected charter master), Bradley Cooper, NInja Steve and yours truly. Knew we were in for a unique experience when the captain suggested the swallowtail tiles were running inshore of the canyons, and would we mind using the new, solar-powered, electric reels by Shimoono, a start-up company based in Weehawken. Of course we said "game on"....

Made our way to the spot and after some careful maneuvering we immediately hooked up with numerous versions of tiles that included, Golden, Olive, porcelain, ceramic, Wayne, and a doubleheader of back splash, caught by yours truly.

After a careful count by our first mate, we were informed we had our limit. Since it was still only 6:15am, El Capitan asked us if we would like to top off the pallets of tiles with some sea biscuits, which we also said "game on" to...

Took about 3 hours but we ended up with a boat limit of quality black sea bass, with a couple ding-a-lings mixed in. Im proud to say that after my extended absence I didnt lose a step, ending up with the largest ling, and pool winner sea bass. However, I was in neither the $1000 pool, or the $10K pool, and so those extend to our next charter, whenever that is.

Special shout out to GDUBS for the invite.....the Samurai Secret Ninjaman for reminding me how much fun it was to ask, once again, if "Captain Jelly could take us to where Capt Paur Legula fishes"....and Brad for filling up the cooler so fast.

Captain Ron and Stephanie run a top-notch operation, and the laughs and bad jokes were equally shared, as well as superb service. Cant ask for a better deal from a nicer crew!

Tight Lines!

Thanks To Capt. Ron an Steph for all there efforts and what turned out to be a really nice day. It was a little sporty but the sunshine and biscuits flying over the rail made it all that much better and easier. The ( NW) wind is gonna drop out any minute.

Thanks to Steve # I just missed another one . Capt JJ. ( were you using old bait or were you called old bait is the question. You got your monies worth outta that 20$ reel though and did pretty good for not fishing in a couple of years. Brad was just consistent all day and learned how to cook a whole sea bass, which I really do have to try , you get so much more meat out of it and that great grill taste good job .
Myself nothing but a hack and just ask Ronnie, he will tell ya. he had to coach me up all day on how to catch a sea bass - , for some reason I can catch silver eels and large skates with no problems during any season

Jmurr we know that bromance is Reel , Ronnie always speaks well of you and we had a show just probably not as good as yours

Thanks again Capt and crew for getting me home on time to finish the honey-do-list after you fished all morning. the wife appreciates you all more than me
