I just heard that the virus has taken Captain Art Hilliard, who formerly owned and ran the charter boat Eagle out of Atlantic Highlands. I worked for, "Arto" as he was known, for longer than I think anyone else who graced the decks of that fine vessel. Though I know I wasn't her best mate I consider myself proud to have walked the same deck with many other now captains and fine deckhands (and some true dingbats too). Anyone who knew Artie knew he was a real character, always quick witted and ready with a humorous comment at a moments notice. A solid captain. Always true to his own character. Fare thee well, Captain.
