I don't offshore bottom fish in the winter often so I'm seeking advice. I'm good with the daytime sea bass bite but I don't think they bite well in the dark.
Guessing there could be bluefish, cod, pollock, monkfish, porgy, weakfish, hake, etc in around 200ft. I'm looking for some advice on how to catch them other than just dropping clams to the bottom. Anyone have a tip?
Thanks!

Diamond jigs with a teaser tied 2 foot above unless the dogs are bad. Then remove the teaser

On the off shore bottom fishing trips I have been on, 70 miles for sea bass, I found the only thing biting before sun up were dogs

That's what I found too! Just a few sea bass and lots of dogs.

I have definitely caught cod at night before sun up on the offshore wreck trips on the same drop as the seabass. So they are there, and of course there are dogs there too, but don't give up entirely just bcuz u think there are only dogs.
