Apparently sandeels have moved in. Saw one washed up on the beach on late Thursday afternoon. That day, I caught nothing until about 3:30PM. Then 2 shorts before sundown, and 3 more after. It was quite dark when I caught the last one and was having difficulity removing the treble hook. Fortunately a guy showed up with a flashlight. After thanking him, I told him he could have my spot because I could no longer see to fish.
There have been some diving Cormorants, and I like to fish near them since they signal the location of sandeels. So far, I have seen no "birds working", only Cormorants.

Not sure how it is at Sandy Hook but the fishing this past weekend was good south. Definitely a Sandeel bite going on so be mindful that Sandeels don't migrate down the coast they move in and out so don't wait for them to come to you. Hot lures for me were the AVA and teaser, the Tsunami eel and The SP and teaser. Good luck.
