The variety of fish we have inshore, my favorite being Blackfish and nice crisp days with bluebird skies. Oh and not sweating to death

Casting 005's to schools of Albies. Anchoring up and catching Blackfish, Porgy's and Triggers. Drifting clam in 80ft of water for Sea Bass. Striped Bass and Bluefish run and catching them on 027's and bucktails. Seeing pods of Bluefins race by and casting topwaters at them with the hopes of connecting before they disappear. Less boat traffic. Clean brisk air!

Catch one of the 140 that I tagged in NJ. Only one was recaptured while 3 of the 28 fluke that I tagged in Manasquan Inlet last year were recaptured this year.

I went through a lot of tags this year, almost exclusively on seabass and fluke. I did get one back in August this year from a fluke I tagged in July. It had moved 5 miles offshore from where I tagged it. Your windowpanes and some of the fluke are scooped up by draggers and the tags are never returned. Although I've had a few tags returned from a couple of netters from ( You guessed it) Hudson Canyon.
Back on topic.........Leaving the dock on those crispy, cold predawn mornings, searching for tell-tale canopies of birds over schools of hungry bass and breaking out the jigs.

A 50-degree day in late November with just enough breeze to set the anchor nicely over a prime spot, 20-foot visibility water, family fishermen aboard and hungry blackfish below.

You’re right. My only windowpane flounder fish tag return was from a NMFS observer on a scallop boat.
