at a fever pitch anticipating the first Gambler tuna trip this year on Wednesday despite the lack of any reports from the blue water. Guess we'll have to start it off (I hope). NOAA weather forecast & another site are in accord---perfect tuna weather-seas & wind. Only know 1 other that is going; hope to see some more familiar faces on board...Looks like TS Jerry has left the building...
Regardless of the catch, I'll be making my report Friday...

I’m praying you do well. Love tuna fishing but not interested in taking a $500 boat ride with nothing to show for it like I have for the past few years.
And I don’t want to hear any comments like” you can’t catch em by sitting at home.” I’d rather blackfish catch and release then waste $500 when there is no bite. If a bite starts then I’ll be the first one to hop on a party boat but the fall tuna chunking bite is just not what it used to be. Think I’ll have to change my plans for next year and target the bluefin jigging bite in early summer

Fishing has been good not great. Yft are mostly all in the ass kicking class of 60-80# fish. Night bite has been picky. Mahi is insanely good fishing now, with many gaffers. Swordfishing is the best kept secret....probably the best I have heard in quite awhile. Actually, would, focus on swords and have a jig rod ready if tuna showed at night. Good luck.

JD, glad to hear something positive; YFT 60-80 & swordies, love it.. sounds like the day bite was/is better--flat-lining sardines on 30# or 40# is what I wait for...
Tog, I totally agree with you on tuna catches as of the past years but I love it out there---that'll be my final resting place along with our buddy Dennis who's waiting for me!!!

Guys did good Hudson and east this past wknd. Swords, 90# yellows and wahoo. The longfin should be around soon too. Even further NE there were reports of the sickled unicorns being caught too. Big triple digit Allisons.

Guys in NJ's canyons are doing epic mahi and wahoo as well. Scarcity of yellows is what I'm hearing.

Hope your capt is heading NE and the fish gods cooperate.
