Canyon were red hot in June / July.
As we enter the supposed fall season, It seems like, there are few if any party, open and charters posting trips and reports. A few of the regular charters are out of business after various issues. Are the boats that are running for the fall trips all booked up ?

I’ be been watching and waiting for reports as well and they are non-existent which is not a good sign. A buddy of mine was out last week on the V out of Pt. Pleasant and the boat only had a total of 6 yellowfins. However that is a lot better start then they did last year. First good reputable report and I’m booking an overnighter. 🙏

Stop looking and book a trip on one of the sponsors of this site. It can turn on at any time.

5 years ago. Seems like yesterday
Reports drive me nuts! Don’t get me wrong... I like to read them but I’d rather be involved in making them. I’m not gonna be the guy who “shoulda been here yesterday”. Party boat canyon tuna fishing is my favorite thing to do so if the weather is fit, I’m going. We’ve caught fish the day after a poor trip and been skunked after phenomenal trips. The canyon is always changing so reports mean nothing. You’ll find safer bets at the craps table. It’s not for everyone but for me, there’s nothing better. Fish or no fish the experience is always fulfilling.

While I mentioned reports, 100% agree making reports is way better than reading reports.
In previous years the charter open boat and party boat canyon trips post looking for passengers were plentiful. This year sporadic or none.

I'm with 2na, nothing better and weather doesn't mean anything more than comfort---have loaded up fishing in 10' seas and down to an almost flat sea. Just 9 more days 'til our first trip and can't wait...

Lot of ''real charter boats'' are out of business .Combination of ridiculous limits and so called open boat charters.Bad enough if you have a no show on a bass or fluke trip but on a canyon trip it is about the fuel. The canyons had some good tuna fishing this summer as well as mid range bluefin. These are day trips. This time of year i want to be on a ''bridge boat'' sport fisherman. An overnighter is not the same.
