Never targeted them so the question is what type of metal do you use?
Do you need flouro?
Artificials??
Thanks in advance

You can use epoxy jigs, ava 17's ,deadly dick's and split tail tsunami's in white. When using the jigs you want to reel very fast. I always use fluoro 15# or 20# on a light spinning setup. You'll have a blast.

Deadly Dicks casted or trolled. Casting use 20 pound floro, trolling use 30.

Last time out on the Big J we killed them on blue epoxy jigs and deadly dicks. Used 25lb mono. Its too much fun!

Trolling?
Use a size 0 Clark Spoon on 25# Fluoro with a 3-4oz drail.

Trolling? Why? These are mostly 2-4lb fish and the fun is in the hooking up, often in full view. If you find yourself inundated with those infernal chub macks in the slick, move a little further SE till you find all bones & blues.

I think the chub macks are just as fun as the bones :D especially when big schools of them are darting everywhere. Super cool to see.

Did very well a few weeks back with a 7/8 ounce epoxy jig, a hammered 017 size diamond jig and especially with a 4 inch white, pink or glass minnow pattern Tsunami Split Tail Minnow.
I was using a medium action 7 ‘ spinning rod with a 3000 class reel spooled with #15 braid and had a 25’ top shot of #15 fluorocarbon. Lure tied directly to fluorocarbon. This set up worked great for me on a party boat. Only thing I might do next time is up got a #20 flurocarbon leader. Is a flurocarbon leader needed, probably not but I was out fishing everyone 5 to 1-so who knows.
