There’s a guide in far south NJ that targets Sheepshead. This is a new thing for me as I never remember catching Sheepshead consistently in NJ. Have you ever heard of this?

Capt. Dan Schafer in Stone Harbor, he’s the NJ Sheepshead guru.

He’s also a great guide for backbay stripers-especially on topwater plugs.

Sheepshead were once prolific in the N.Y./NJ area. Sheepshead Bay NY was named for the species.

Interesting, I always thought of them as a more southern species. I’ve heard they get some redfish with some consistency as well down there.

Went with Dan, Insomniac Guide Svs., a couple years ago. He put us on some nice fish. I had a 12+ and a 10# fish along with a couple smaller ones. Great day!
