I just don’t have time! Well, not in recent weeks up until this beautiful 4 day vacation! What a gorgeous 4 days to be out and about on the water! YEA BUDDY!!!

July 4th- quick morning recon mission to check on the pet Hybrids with Cap’n Mikey Topaz at the wheel. Tough bite to start with the fish biting softly but we still managed to get more then a few to the net including a double header! Biggest fish were around 23 inches and about 6lbs.

Saturday July 6th- headed to the little river to check on my toothy pets. I haven’t visited them since last year so I was long overdue. Let’s just say they were happy to see me, lol! Cracked 6 to 34ish inches in about an hours time. Then I hooked a Pickerel that went wild and threw my hook during a release. Somehow the little shit managed to get me off balance and I wound up getting hooked pretty badly on my index finger. Dammit!!! Another shoreline surgery ensued, it’s not my first that’s for sure. Cut the barb of the hook off and pulled the hook back through the way it came. No big deal, just a delay of game. I was aggravated that all this happened because of a Pickerel. Like seriously? That Pickerel is dead now. Sorry if that hurts anyone’s feelings. HEHE!!!!!

Sunday funday, July 7th- back on the troll with Cap’n Topaz at the helm yet again. Took a while to get the fish going again. Today was a slow pick but somehow we still managed to crack about a dozen Hybrids to 23 inches. Mikey reeled in the biggest fish at a hair under 6lbs. Beautiful Hybrid! Fought like hell! What a weekend on the water! Great friends, awesome time and fish were caught! Man, I’m sunburnt and it’s back to reality tomorrow unfortunately. Gotta make that money, you know!!! TIGHT LINEZ EVERYONE!!!

Don't want to steal your thread with a FYI, that was a nasty hook in the finger and fortunately you had the tool(s) to handle the situation. What I would like to point out the importance of having big enough cutters or pliers to either crush the barb or cut it off as you did. A few years ago, my better half had a SM send an Owner 3/0 flying and through her finger like you did, I cut off the barb, pulled it out and she was back to fishing. Be prepared and have the right tool(s) for the job, you never know when you will need them. Thanks and hope the finger heals quickly.

OMG EDDIE:eek: see what happens when you do not have time to fish you pull a googan move by letting a slime dart get you off your balance and getting a hook through your finger that looks like it hurt glad to see you redeemed yourself and got some nice fish anyway. that's the way to get back in the game brother. nice wipers and toohty pets congrats:cool:

First off-ouch. Now did anyone notice the chain pattern on that first pike? Hybrid with a pickerel? Good to see you back sticking fish and yourself.

When I see a hook in the hand like that I think of going barbless, that is what is recommended for kayak anglers and here is why. Imaging a 10 pound bluefish on one treble and the other treble through your finger, now try to paddle back to shore to get help.
You retire, HA ! Peaks and valleys. :)
