Just an FYI. The blackfish season is closed in NJ until August 1st, when you can keep one, 15 inches or larger.

Lol, I’m sure that is the case! Anyway, if asked he can claim innocence. He thought it was a big bergall.

Maybe not months ago.
On a 6/22 sea bass charter. Two of our 6 pack caught short tog in 80 FOW on clam.
On a 7/6 charter another of our group had a short blackfish on a ling rig, also on clam in 110 FOW.
