FLUKE (SUMMER FLOUNDER) NIGHTMARE REGULATIONS...I am completely disgusted with fluke fishing in N.J. When will these horrid N.J. fluke regulations end? When will some organization or well positioned individuals say enough is enough. When will realistic fluke regulations be given to New Jersey fisherman. We all know that the 16 and 17 in fluke we release locally will not be in our waters next year as 18 in fish. We all know that as fluke mature they go east and north. Very few remain in our waters. We are releasing fluke so they can migrate to Montauk and eventually Nantucket Shoals as 5 lb fish and up. The egg layers.... being caught at an incredible rate. Meanwhile , back in N.J. we are dumping 16 and 17 inch fluke while the draggers can keep the 14 inch ones. What insanity. When will it end??? How can any sane individual agree that it is acceptable that a 6 pack charter can catch over 60 fluke in a few hours and not have ONE KEEPER. How can any sane individual agree that it is acceptable a party boat can land hundreds of fluke per trip and only have a HAND FULL of KEEPERS. It must stop. We the fisherman of New Jersey are law abiding fools to continually go along with such a despicable regulatory mandate. Who or what group can step up in some meaningful way to bring this debacle to an end? Sitting in meetings with the regulatory agencies is a complete waste of time. The have never helped us in any way. The situation today is dire
