Just wondering if porgy is here yet? I normally fish around Verrazano bridge.
Appreciate your report.

There are crushing them in the LI Sound.. Not much happening here in NJ yet unless your way offshore.

Never could figure that out.. They fish for them in Massachusets, Rhode Island, and Long Island starting in early May, and we have years when we don't see any until mid July.. Might just be a population density thing... bob

You should see them around the area surrounding Brooklyn, including Jamaica Bay any day now. As for NJ, somewhere around the 10th of July the first reports should trickle in.
Eastern Long Island, specifically Peconic Bay is loaded with porgies as usual. Not only are there more there, but they tend to be larger than NJ porgies. Although having said that, over the past 2 years we have seen really large specimens in local waters.

One of the site sponsors, The Down Deep Fleet, has posted a good porgy report on these pages, so it looks like its about to start in earnest... bob
