Stopped by for an hour over in Teaneck by the County park they built, brought my Lews and Abu garcia combos with a texas rig and a chatterbait attached. Tried over by the kayak docks and managed to hook onto something (Probably a panfish) with a black and blue zman chatterbait but it let go, tried a texas rig down by the fishing pier then walked over to the Tiny dock near the bridge, skunked on both, noticed the water level was really high because of all the rain we've been getting and weeds were everywhere. It started to downpour again so I put my tackle in my truck and headed home.
Definitely want to head out here again. I heard some stories about how it's a great bass spot. Anyone fished there before and have some recommendations on how to catch the bass in there?

I work in Fort Lee and fish overpeck almost every day either on my way in or on my lunch break. Lots of nice largemouth in there and even a few stripers. Caught this one earlier this week from the kayak dock.

NICE! What do you throw in there? I heard a lot of talk about spinnerbaits.

Probably caught more fish on senkos than anything else although also had luck with chatterbait, squarebill crank and a jig/craw trailer. Spinnerbait has only snagged me one fish there (but it was a nice one). Right now I toss Texas rigged senko or jig into the weedbeds along the shoreline. Get most bites very close to the bank/rip-rap or out along the weed line. Watch out for ticks though, of all the places I have fished in NJ, the shoreline of overpeck is by far the most infested.

Any good color recommendations? Black and blue maybe? Also with the ticks I'm surprised on that ro be honest. Wouldn't think there'd be that many near there but at the same time it's basically the Meadowlands

If you don’t believe me about the tick situation take a quick stroll through any of the high grass on the shoreline. If I so much as brush against a cattail I end up crawling with ticks. Not a good thing when you are fishing on your lunchbreak and find a tick crawling up your neck in the middle of a meeting. As for colors black, blue or green pumpkin are my usual colors. Caught this decent 17” lmb before work today on a sexy Shad squarebill crank. They are def. biting!

Can confirm ticks are present at overpeck, I was wearing cargo shorts near the dock by the bridge and had one on my shorts, nice catch! I also noticed a lot tall grass in the water, I'm given the impression that the entire bottom of overpeck is just one big old weed grass field hahaha
