Where did he go. Did Bernie finally pack it in?

I don’t question that flygaff’s question in regards to tenacious
Was in anyway derogatory . Capt Bernie is a dear friend of mine as is his wife Elvira. I just don’t like the word, “ packing it in”

Bernie has been fighting the fight of his life and winning the war , it was with his permission that I’m responding .

Bernie and I go way back to our roots in flemington and didn’t meet until we were 100 miles offshore probably 35 years ago.

I remember a night he was on the bow of my boat all night catching longfin all by himself, what a night. In any event,he’s is a dear friend and colleague .

He once told me, “ Dave, there’s two kinds of people in this world, givers and takers, and we are givers❤️

Sometimes life catches up and we have to put aside what we love about fishing and tend to ourselves or our loved ones

I didn't mean anything by my comment. I was just wondering if Bernie retired. I was going to call his son but thought I would ask here. Bernie is a great man. I have been fishing with him for 15 years.

I never fished with Capt Bernie but always enjoyed reading his reports and seemed to always do well offshore.

My prayers are with Bernie and his family. I have been through this with family before and it is beyond awful and glad to hear he is fighting it and doing well. From reading his reports (and the name of his boat) over the years, I am not surprised as he seems like one tough cookie.

I look forward to reading Bernie’s reports again, or about Bernie outfishing Dave again on Dave’s boat.

Bernie has always been and will continue to be one of the true gentlemen here and in the offshore fishing circles...Not many that I know of who truly appreciates being out there more then he does.

All the best Bernie !!

I too hold Capt Bernie in HIGH regards. A great man. He is a giver has Capt Dave said. I have been tuna fishing for 20 plus years and my first "6 pack" charter was w Tenacious and have fond memories of those trips. As a matter of fact, I was recently on a trip and one of they guys was telling stories about our trips w Bernie, and he too thinks fondly of Capt. B. I conversed via email w Capt Bernie and he told me that he was being well cared for. Hopefully his health improves and we hear from him soon. A great man.

Fished with Bernie, mated a couple trips for him, and had the all time very best offshore overnighter with Bernie on his Tenacious. He is and will always be the benchmark of a true family man, gentleman, and great offshore Captain. Fight the fight and may God Bless you and your Family!
