I hate to say it but IMO , the salt water board here has really gone down hill .
Ask a simple question and they get a lot of reads , but very little input afterwards .
No where near the interaction that was here in the past

Nice to see the fresh water section has grown leaps and bounds with lots of input .

Yes just looked at the stats for May 2019. 40,388 unique visitors and 195,024 site visits and it's up 22% from May of 2018... More unique visitors and site visits but seems fewer people posting, although I don't have those stats. So, people still come here to get info and lurk but I think lots of the casual conversations that used to take place here, are on Facebook and Instagram is my bet...

Fine for our sponsors but I too would like to see more people posting here and sharing info... Too much noise, unknown people, arguments, wise guys and BS on Facebook for my taste but people seem to like the drama...

Anyone have any thoughts about what we can do here to get more people posting? Let me preface that by saying I just don't want to open the site up to anyone, I'd rather have quality then quantity...

Gerry.. I enjoy the forum style of posting, but I am old school.. FB is what people are using to the exclusion of all else.. I sell stuff all the time. On Craigslist now I might get one response in a week.. On FB I get 15 in an hour.

Its not the forum or its content, its social media..

I used to post a lot of "general" fishing topics here because I liked good online discussion, and robust, reasonable debate, especially during winter, but I don't know, its just not generating much interest any more...
People here want to see "reports" and " What size, what color, what depth, what boat, what bait, what river, what bay, what bouy" type of stories... Then they just move on without contributing.
The forum discussion format was great for many years, but I feel people are bored with it.. I am on a LOT of discussion forums, many different topics, and almost all have suffered from declining posts/lack of enthusiasm/interest. A few international ones with membership approaching a million have slowed to a crawl. Its just the way things are with "modern social media"... bob

Agreed Gerry, shame to see fisherman fighting with each other rather than having constructive conversation. We're all fisherman, we all want to catch fish, we all CAN catch fish, but someone always has to be the best...

Love the freshwater section here, I've met lots of awesome guys who are more than willing to put you on fish or give you tips to get on them. Most of my posts in the saltwater section have been mostly ignored minus the few awesome people who have given me tips. Also seems like the saltwater guys are mostly boat guys these days and not a lot of shore/surf guys anymore. nothing wrong with it, just what i've noticed. Thanks for everything you do for the site and the members of it! It truly is a great resource.

wish I knew Gerry,
seems ALOT of people read here , some posts have 3000 reads and only 5 replies...
a quick look down the topics page shows very few posts on the threads
Used to be you asked a question you got a thousand replies back.

seems just like everything else comradery is become a thing of the past.
Sharing info is what made it fun..

Thanks Dan and Togzilla for SHARING your fluke TOURNAMENTS:D
If i find out anything on the Fluke masters or FSOS i will SHARE.
Maybe more posts will come from "highjacking" threads:p but I honestly think this site and SW board is just fine as is. Gerry, you built the mountain and they continue to come!

Lack of post comes from a lack of fishing. Due to weather and back problems have not been out much yet this season. But as an aside the few trips I did in Shark River, the number of boats passing us to go out has been down from past seasons.

This past Saturday had a few hour window, got to my marina at 8:30 and parking lot should have been packed, only 4 cars. Don't know where everyone is
but it is obvious on the few occasions I have been down, many others have not.

Hope once this weather settles this picks up. On the other hand since I have had posting privileges I only post when I have something to add.

Let's all have a great summer of bent rods and nice weather.
