Got our first seabass trip in; started where we did well last year in about 45' on SH reef. we picked away at them pretty good for a little along with some ling, but slowly got overrun by spiny dogs and eels. figured the water was still colder than this time last year based on that, but tried a few more spots in the area without much more luck.

Decided to make a run out a bit deeper and it was drop and reel fishing! The jig worked great when I could use it effectively but the bottom current was ripping opposite of the surface current so it was tough most of the time. most fish caught on a bait rig.

Unfortunately, when we were just a few fish away from our 3 man limit the tide changed and became so strong it would just lift 8-10oz of lead off the bottom like it was nothing. we kept fishing, feathering it out as needed but with no hits for about 30 minutes we headed back in. at least we had some ling to make up for the missing seabass haha.
