A very good and steady bite on #2-3 bluefish throughout most of the outgoing tide today. I lost count after 10, most had double digits. Both hard and soft baits produced as long as it was either white or bone. Bite shut down at the end of the ebb. I fished through the very early flood but nothing. Returned later in the tide with my son and he got a nice #6-7 (biggest I’ve seen in this spot in a few days).

We were in a center console, way up the river and had Blues all morning as well. Bite slowed with tide change and we moved a bit east. Got two quick ones about 6-7lbs which was bigger than we were catching. Boat traffic and wind made us move back to where we started and got back on the smaller ones. Also released an 18” and 25” Fluke. Fish were hugging the bottom. Green plastics were the hot color for us. Fun morning!

Tried Dog Beach for nearly 2 hours on the low and incoming tide yesterday evening with an Ava A17 and teaser rig but only had 1 hit and hooked a bluefish that jumped, then threw the lure. Didn't see anybody catch a fish. Only had 1 hookup in each of my last 3 trips to Manasquan. Saw a dead bluefish float downriver and took a pic. Many released fish die.

I’ve probably caught @50 bluefish (all wading) from @#2-13 in the Manasquan this spring and 99% of the came on a SP minnow (vast majority of the other bluefish I’ve seen caught came on either a SP or a Yo-Zuri Hydro Minnow) with the other 1% on a Rapala SXR14. Saw 5 caught on metal (AVA or spoon) and saw only 2 on topwater. On my last trip two guys throwing small soft plastics did very well. Also, so far all my fishing on the Manasquan this spring as been west of the Rt. 35 bridge. Looking back at my log, I didn’t start fishing Dog Beach last year until after Memorial Day.
