ROCKS FOR BAIT !!!! Forgot to share this pic.
Stripers were so darn hungry Saturday they were eating rocks.

One fish had two of these big stones in its gut...... When I felt them I thought they were clams much like he must have when he ate them.

Woulda been a good Pool Fish

So true! How would you like to weigh in a winner and they find rocks in the belly?

Old timers say that certain species of fish use them
As ballast prior to upcoming storms when they sense
Barometric pressure dropping. Sunday had bad weather,
Go figure?!

Thanks for sharing that info. Very interesting. I was wondering how in the world the fish would pass such large stones.

Most likely they wouldn't.

I've found pebbles in trout stomachs. I figured they picked them up when nymphing. That's some pebble, but they probably pick them up the same way when looking for crabs and such on the bottom.
