Took some pto off work for my 30th birthday and headed down to my summer home to do some fishing with my father and brother.

Thursday - hit the normak for blackfish, not great fishing but it was a lot of fun.. ended the day with a few keepers, lots of laughs and memories. We did way better then most of the boat.

Thursday night - hit a back bay spot and had a full blown cinder worm hatch going on, bass blowing up everywhere. Couldn’t connect with anything until I put a 1/2 wine colored buck tail with a red ottertail on, played with some schoolies and called it a night.

Friday morning - over slept and decided to take it easy and try for some flounder in Manasquan River. Lost a huge founder 10min into the putting at the net, had to be 20”. No more flounder after that but we caught everything from blackfish, progies, blowfish, and a few schoolies all on worms.

Friday night - back to the back bay, had a short window between rain and wind and the area felt very fishy, cinderworms again everywhere but threw shade. Only action was a sassy shad cut in half by a bluefish... they are in I guess now.

Saturday am - hit grumpys at 4:30 for bait, hit the surf with high hopes and a 30mph west wind.. the sweeping south current was brutal, 12oz barely held. Nada. Took the left over clams and hit the bay for flounder with my dad again..no go on flounder but we caught a 20” blackfish that was clearly carrying eggs, sent her back. And another random huge kingfish about 18”, also sent back.

Fished my ballsoff and no better way to turn 30 then spending time with my family doing what I love !
