For all of you who started fishing with your dad or grandad or uncle or someone close to the family, this is how it started for one youngster from " back in the day". It's a good time to reflect and consider all of the "luxuries" we have now and how it used to be. How many of you still hang burlap bags of fish over the side of a rowboat to keep them fresh. Who leaves the dock without a GPS? Think about it and maybe share with the younger fishermen on this board short anecdotes about how you got into fishing and with whom. Leaky rowboats, fishing piers, oversized waders, broomstick rods, getting bait, bait and tackle stores, no ice, no size limits, fishing at night, solid glass rods and old Penn or Garcia or Ocean City reels all may bring back some memories.

Enjoy the read. I did.

Great read......Yes, leaky rowboats from Pauels Boats, now Oceanic Marina. No GPS, phone, radio, etc. Solid fiberglass rods, about 3/8" thick with wood handles, conventional reels were Ocean City, spinning reels were JC Higgins....:)
