I have said this for many years-The earlier they come the earlier they leave. Most guys don't even have there boats in the water April first. I think if they started to bite in Raritan Bay in late April and it lasted into early June many more people would be in on it.Better weather and when it is over it will be fluke time. Although everyone has cabin fever too early of a run i not the greatest thing.Remember years ago we fished for winter flounder the last last week of March until the end of the third week of April. NY opens April 15 as compared to years ago when it opened May 8. We s never started fishing ocean side until at least June 6.Changing fishery but an early run dos not benefit us much as you might think. An abundance of bunker in the bay would be nice. I hope you guys have a good bass season.I will be coming up in May and get my grandson out to enjoy this great sport.Although i am retired in Florida my roots are in NJ and i miss the striper fishing.
