I'm looking to try ice fishing for the first time, and i have off work on MLK Day. Is anybody planning on going out? I'd go out alone, but i don't have any gear/knowledge when it comes to ice fishing. I'm going to pick up a rod and reel combo and some bait/ice lures.
Any takers??? Let me know! If not i'll probably end up going troutin again :D

Old braid makes great tip up line. Use heavier weight to avoid cutting your fingers.
Anybody in Union or Essex county respooling their Salt water reels? I could use some. PM for porch pickup. Thanks.

If you wouldn't mind me tagging along i'd be down to go with you! That would give me time to sleep in too :D

I might be! Let me see how the first time goes hahaha. I dont know how often i'll realistically be able to get out on the ice this season so I'd rather them go to someone who will use them more. But i'll keep this in mind!

Be careful and go with someone who is familiar with the lake/pond. The wintry mix we are supposed to get Friday and snow on Sunday will make it difficult to tell what is good ice and what is just snow/slush on top of bad ice. Life jacket, rope and picks are essential.
