Hey. Last spring my son and I stayed at the West Branch Angler. We were in one of their river front cabins for two nights and ate in their restaurant and fished with one of their guides. It was all wonderful, except we didn't catch anything. We fished the upper west branch and we saw some beautiful big browns but they wanted perfectly presented size 16 dries and we weren't up to the demands of technical dry fly fishing. My son forgot his glasses and couldn't even see the fly so forget about mending.

I would love to do it again but for fish that are easier to catch, maybe smallmouth. And maybe a little farther from rt 17, the trucks kind of diminished the wilderness experience. Any ideas?

Thanks.

There's a guy that does float trips on the Lackawaxen. You can DYI a canoe float on the delaware for smallies. You'll catch plenty, but guides will put you on bigger fish.

Baxter house in Roscoe, great place and guides. Ken is the guide and operates the inn with his wife. I’ve used him a few times with my son. Tons of knowledge
