Had a really great day off of work yesterday with a limited group of 12 guys for a special blackfish trip on the Mimi.

Weather was beautiful for January and I was in the groove. I had 2 in the box at 8am and limited out before 10am. Caught a double limit (orl) with some nice healthy fish and over a dozen shorts but the ratio was really good. Carl next to me lands 2 fish over 8lbs back to back on one drop and then the right bite came for me and I got her up weighed over 8.5lbs and took the pool.

I had several nice healthy fish over 4 pounds and the 1 over 8.5lbs which won the pool. I can't provide a full report on the whole boat but everyone went home with fish :D. I was just lucky and got into a groove which felt great especially since I was overdue for a break and I can't remember the last time I won a pool.

As always mate Brandon and Capt. Kenny are top notch and I hope to schedule 1 or 2 more trips before the season comes to an end. Will post pics shortly if I can figure out how to get them not to turn sideways on this site.

I don't hold the fish way out so pictures don't really do them justice
