10/24

This time went down to manville after escaping bad bridge traffic trying to get to bound brook.
Same tackle as last time. 1/4 oz jig with a PB+J zman trd. Keeping it low.
Scored these two fish out of the same run, which I never caught anything out of before.

So glad the Rahway river got a 4 mile extension on spring stocking, figure the LAST place you would want any more trout would be the good 'ol Raritan river.
Nice fish & pics !

A few of you guys have caught what seemed to be similar sized bows and smallies from the same water, at the same time with the same tackie. Any comments?

Not following. Luke fished some sections some days and I fished other sections other days. He used some Zman TRD's and jigs and I just stuck to jigs. These are not the same fish but a variety of fish caught though out the river.

Luke posted that he caught those two fish at the same time in the same run. Hence my question

Oh I meant these two fish in this post are from the same run, in manville. Last post was at nevius Street.

Last post at nevius stretch with a few smallies And that bow, this post in manville. Andy can't find any fish outside Duke island park stretch lol. Yet I couldn't catch anything there!

Picked up my first gizzard today. (At another spot in bound brook) Nice surprise. It was hooked at the jaw but sorta funny like in the outside. On a 1/8 oz chart grub jig

I fished the North Branch in Natirar Park. Nice little stream but nothing. I tried at the Far Hills Fairgrounds. Some nice pools but no. A woman there playing with her dogs suggested I try the Black River in Hacklebarny State Park, but I never found it.

Natirar park isn't fall stocked, I think far hills might be last stocking point, but up there u gotta find the nice pools between the skinny water to find the trout. Before the streams closed this year I caught one in far hills, so they stay there all winter.

For black river, go to hacklebarney state park. I take 206 up then local roads.

There's also other spots for the black river , they don't just stock hacklebarney ;)

No idea where they come from, manville is pretty far from any stocking points tho. Some will say they're hold overs others say they're very adventurous trout swimming all the way from the branches stocking points.

All I know and care for is that they're big, fat, and beautiful :D

Hard to tell from this pic. But from Andy's post, judging by the nicely shaped fins, I'd say they are well fed spring survivors, or well traveled holdovers. IMHO.........

that front fin looks worn down pretty good. It def has the state stocker coloration.
