It's a juvenile barrelfish, I've caught a couple this year, they are typically deep water fish, but with the crazy water temps this year we had some nice exotics in close, when I caught my first one I had a marine biologist check it out to I'd it for me

Banded rudderfish
I was thinking the same thing! LOL! Seriously, There are several pictures of barrelfish that have been posted over the years on this site. The Ocean Explorer and J2 have two of the most recently posted after offshore porgy/seabass trips. What was old is somehow new again. There are lots of things in the archives on this site that have relevance to questions and opinions and stories from today. It's much like the news. Topics last for two weeks and then are forgotten as people move on to something else. It's kind of like the banded rudderfish debate.
