Was wondering if you guys were seeing any blowfish in good numbers around the Mantoloking area bayside? Went fishing off Mantoloking a few times three years ago and remember coming home each time with a 8-10 fat blowfish.
Been a while, so figured I'd give it a shot again. Wish we got them in good numbers up north, like they do down south.

Its been a while since I have fished them, but some years they show up in fair numbers in shark River along with nice sized Kingfish.. Usually by late August if they come in... bob

I usually get them in better numbers in the southern part of the Barnegat than anywhere up north.
Let's hope the blowfish show up this year in Shark River. Do you see them more near the inlet or back by the courts?

Personally I like closer to the inlet.. Not far east from the bridges, maybe a few hundred feet.. Each year is different, and the locals will have better recent info than I do at this time... The blowfish I have caught there were big, and often mixed with nice Kingfish, sand Porgies, pin size Sea Bass, nice Spots and Croakers some years, and later on in Sept some really nice snapper blues. Short fluke as well, sometimes a lot of them. Oh and buckets full of birds. Even spike weakfish sometimes. Its great fishing with a one handed fresh water rod, but as i said, each year is different, and I would call Fishermens Den or Macs and find out if the annual "salt water pan fish invasion" has hit Shark river yet this summer.
