Hey there NJF'ers...I'm heading down to LBI Sat and Sun to take advantage of a friends beach house. :D I'm not the type to sit on the beach all day so I'd like to take a shot at some surf fishing. Being mostly a sweetwater type guy I'm looking for any info on what might be my best chance at hooking into something. Even though I'm a freshwater guy I am still a fisherman so I have all kinds of plugs metal bucktails tons of lead and saltwater stuff I never use...now I just need to know where to use it! Gonna be at the north end of the island if that makes any difference. As some of you know I am not opposed to spending a whole day fishing and not catching...but the other is sooooo much better if I can pull it off! Any info would be great.

Thanks in advance - Ken

You could try the jetty/beach at Barnegat lighthouse.

Was down in LBI a week ago and the surf was loaded with snappers. Worst case scenario catching them on ulta light tackle can be fun. Pretty sure there would be kingfish also.

Castmasters on a light spinner are great for Snappers... The're right in the wash.

Put a snapper on a larger pole and try for Fluke.

I'd be launching bunker or mackerel chunks on shark rigs for a shot at brown or sand tigers. :) But that's just me...

Thanks guys...definitely bringin the light stuff for them snappers. Like the idea of putting one on a hook. If I can get away from the wife/beach combo I will take a run to the light and try the inlet.

Sand tigers....Ha! That aint happenin with the wife around. Ever since jaws she can't go in the water past her ankles! She'd be in therapy for years if I pulled one of those up on the beach. With my luck she'd be the one to catch it!

I'm down here now and all I've seen are snappers in the surf. Few fluke caught but that was on the bay. Crabbing has been outstanding from what I heard.
