I usually do pretty good with fluke in the beginning of the season in the bay but it seems like it really picks up in August to early Sept and that's mostly ocean fishing. What is your favorite month for fluke fishing and do you fish river...bay or ocean. Thanks in advance!

I fish out of MI...normally fishing is at its best from 8/1 till the first week of September or so...i dont really fluke after that as i normally focus more on canyon and surf fishing bass at night.

Hands down August ! Go back and read the reports. If anyone ever kept a logbook it would be easy to see that August is THE best month for fluke fishing in NJ. Years ago on a bonito trip we anchored on a piece of high bottom, it was drop and reel 5 pound fluke, that was in September.

From late May thru @July 4th, I like the back bays and rivers.

It’s been my experience that mid July is slow and then the ocean bite picks.

In mid August thru early Sept. I look back to the mouths of creeks, marina channels in the bay when snappers, mullet and peanut bunker are flushed out on an outgoing tide.
