I just got back a week ago. almost went to that Lodge but went to Icy instead.
as you said it goes from a bucket list to a yearly thing.
Can catch fish in a puddle in Alaska.
and after experiencing it I also cant wait to go back.

Seems like each pic gets better than the next too doesn't it lol

That is SICK! What's a trip like that cost you ballpark?

fishark531
07-24-2018, 06:46 PM
This particular lodge includes EVERYTHING.

EXCEPT Float Planes, Airfare to and from and tipping

No indivual tipping

We shared our fish evenly. I made up the rosters daily

We fished on different boats and with different people

That was made clear from the get go

I also received a group discount per person

I was comped the lodge price. I tipped like everyone else, I paid for Float Plane like everyone else. I was directly involved in all facets and took on a lot of responsiblity.

I was able to get everyone $ 500 off listed price as part of guaranteeing a minimum of 12 but wound up taking 16

I Collected all the money and spread out over 1 year 4 payments

They include quality raingear and boots, expert fish cleaning, vacume sealing and labeling fish and cleaning and folding dirty clothes

The fishing tackle they provide is ULTRA HIGH QUALITY

Salmon Rods
Both Halibut Bait Rods and Halibut Jigging Rods

Everything they do is to PERFECTION

To answer your question

Approx $ 6000 to $ 6500 including EVERYTHING

The food is SPECTACULAR AS WELL AS THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN

This is not an advertisement for my trip in 2020 as most of my 16 are coming back and I already have several people on the waiting list. I am also working on getting group trip insurance at a discounted rate

I hope I answered all your questions

Why would it be against the rules to post where you went considering they aren't really in competition with NJ charter boats?

I'm heading up to Alaska in 3 weeks to do a remote float fly-fishing trip with 3 buddies. Flying to Anchorage and then up to Kotzebue and then a bush plane another hour north of the arctic circle. Floating for 5-6 days fishing for Dolly Varden, grayling, and whatever salmon shows up, likely chum salmon. Alaska is unbelievable.

How much meat did each guy bring home? Or have shipped home? How expensive was that? I know that the airlines limit you to 50 lbs for free. You then pay for anything over that number. Thanks!

how many halibut you can keep per day in Tanaku ? I remember you can keep two halibut in Seaworld several years ago.

fishark531
07-26-2018, 09:17 AM
Regulations are tight. We did not keep any small ones except on the days certain areas were closed. You need to be an attorney to figure out the regulations. We wound up with 2 boxes each which is close to 100 lbs which was more than enough. The fish were split up evenly by species. I had a totol of 16 people. I organized the group fishing with different people and different boats. It worked out perfectly. 1 per person per day. There are so many different species to fish for it does not matter

Always raises more questions than answers. I'm SURE the summer season is short and the winter season is LONG. Makes for a small window of opportunity.
Bag limits ? Size limits ? Fish packed in dry ice and sent out on the next flight home $$$ ??
Licences ? Cost on that. additional permits ?

I would need an attorney to decifer bag limits and areas open and closed

The Captains know where to go and when

As far as fish processing

No dry ice needed. They are blast frozen to perfection. Cut down into 1 to 2 lb bags and labeled by species

Every airline is different. I took 1 checked bag and 2 fifty pound fish boxes which cost a totol of $ 75

If you want to turn the trip into a MEAT TRIP

DONT GO

We had an outstanding trip and wound up with 85 to 98 lbs of fish including weight of boxes

The days of going to Alaska and bringing home 150 lbs per person are OVER

For me its not about how much fish I bring home but about the overall Alaska experience

This trip is NOT affordable for EVERYONE and I get it. I am fortunate because I have such a huge group that I get comped as a "guide" with that said that still excludes the Float Plane, Back and fourth to Juneau, Fishing License and incidentals. The 15 guys that went with me all said it was worth the $$$$$.

I was also able to get a substantial discount for the guys I brought with me

It is not needed to spend this much to go to Alaska but it was by far the most relaxing and BEST expieriance. This was my 5th Alaska trip and cant wait to go back in 2020

Thanks for making dismal NJ weather fishing week more interesting. Love the pics keep em coming. glad you guys had a great trip .
As someone who runs many group trips you have my admiration. Lots of work goes into a local trip and you make a huge trip like this seem easy lol.
Be well and keep it up
Dave

Dave thanks very much for understanding. It is far from easy. As a matter of fact I thought I was gonna go back in 2020 but it is looking doubtful because its hard to get this many people that far in advance. So I will enjoy the memory's and share them
