Since it has been cooler at night I decided to head up to Big Flat Brook to check on the water temp and stream flow. I got to the river at 7:00am and the water temp was a cool 64 degrees. The river was low but still had plenty of water so I decided to fish a while. I managed to land 8 rainbows ranging in size from 8" to 15". I kept checking on the water temp but with the overcast skies it never went over 66 degrees. The forecasted rain should help to keep the temps down as well as help the river levels.

Still lots of trout in the river so get out and fish!!!

Click on the 1st image for a video of the release, I finally got the guts to stick my phone underwater. Feels real strange doing that without a protective case.

Nice trout. I just can't get into the mindset in July when it's 90 degrees out.

I hear ya, but I was having trout fishing withdrawal symptoms!

Nice job on the 'bows! Hit the FB myself today (Sun) with my son, grandson and some friends. Plenty of state 'bows left and most definitely pleasantly cool water temps. Really wish Sat night's rain had had a greater impact on streamflows though. Barely made a bump in the USGS guage.

Rain is in the forecast for all week so we should see an increase.
