The wife is there with a friend and apparently there is all sorts of garbage washing up on the beach, so much they actually pulled everyone out of the water and will not let anyone swim.

I heard the same thing happened down in the Long Branch and Deal area as well...

Not sure where it all came from but hope they find out.

I have seen more Balloons, bags any kind of plastic that you can imagine this year. It's absolutely horrible! You can't tell me they can't fix those storm sewers to catch most of this crap ending up in the ocean.

So now that they are closing beaches because of it...Where's the outrage? What ever happened to Clean Ocean Action? There are 2 Whales that have been here since April, Dolphins & Sea Turtles that eat jelly fish.....They gotta think they landed in Buffet heaven!!

The tide lines of garbage I’ve seen this week have been the worst I can remember. Unreal the crap floating!

The worst part of that article was talking about how the current out of NY harbor and raritan bay usually goes east or north, but due to abnormal currents it was going south. As if it's OK for the trash to head out to sea, and it's only a problem because it turns south and affected the beaches. Goddamn...

Water treatment plants no longer allow solids to get into rivers or bays
Hypodermics on the beach means deliberate dumping probably from a boat

I was there with my grand kids. we got there early and had low tide with very clean water. As high tide came in, so did the trash. Plastic straws, coffee cup lids, wrappers from all kinds of food etc. We got out of the water and were trying off, when the life guards closed the beach to swimming. Kids were not happy about leaving early and going home. What a shame.
