Late report...headed out for seabass and found pretty much a dink fest with only a few keepers. we bounced around but just couldn't get any kind of keeper ratio.

Headed in to switch over to fluke fishing and we caught the tail end of a decent bite window. John whacked a nice keeper pretty quick on a bucktail rig and a few minutes later a fish knocked so much slack in my line it probably took a good 2 seconds for me to catch up to it and set the hook. He did his little magic carpet ride, but I managed to get him in on the light setup.

first doormat of the year for me...also my first fluke of the year...crap did i just ruin my entire season :confused::confused::eek:

What did it weigh??

My guess is around 7- 8 lbs. Certainly not the fish that you have in your profile, but a beautiful fish none the less.... Congratulations on the catch.

Every 7+ fluke I've caught slacked me up...it's a hallmark of a big fluke jig bite. Excellent job!

Chris,

Beautiful fish my friend. What was the length? Hard to say at the angle but guessing 27" - 28" maybe. Good way to start the season.

thanks guys, and np rwp!

It was 28" but kind of thin. Second biggest one i've ever caught and the biggest one i've been able to catch shallow on really light gear so extra fun!
