The last few trips Ive went to Hacklebarney SP twice, and some time at lamington/north branch.
first trip at hacklebarney, the only fish I land are two wild browns on 1 inch curly tail grubs, hooked onto two larger fish with slightyl bigger grub-jigs but never got to see em.
On the way home got revenge and hit up a single hole on the NB raritan and landed two rainbows. Took a while to get them to hit! I knew the hole was good + some nibbles had me stay pinned to that spot. One on a tiny rapala, another on a tiny jig with pink marabou.
Friday I hit Lamington and hook into two rainbows on a small sinking jerkbait, also a nice smallie that took me for a ride but ends up coming off at the end. Not a monster so im not heartbroken at least.
The hole I hiked to in mind didnt produce a thing. Got kind pissy after that and packed it in.
Today I hit hacklebarney again, took the same path I did the first time so it was familiar to me. Landed two rainbows the first hole, then 3 others scattered throughout and also one more in Reinhardt brook that must have swam its way up from the black river. Also in the same brook a bit upstream two wild browns. Hmmmm no trout slam :( gotta get that brookie one day.
At the end of the day I finally got my limit of stocked trout, 6 in one trip, with two wild browns to top it :)
Both trips at hacklebarney, a good number of people fishing and catching plenty of trout. NB and lamington not as crowded but not souless either.
I dont imagine trout fishing to be as good as it is now for long. I guess cool rainfall has kept streams in good conditions.
Ive been recording videos of my fishing trips so dont take good pics, so here's just low quality snapshots:
