FISHERMEN/Tuesdays Bass Fishing.....

Been fishing with Clams the past few days, had a nice bite yesterday and today we picked at the shorts & keepers.

Thank the Lord for my Dad as he put on his clinic once again with a couple keepers & a bunch of shorts. Pool fish went 14 pounds at the end of the day.

Loads of Bunker in the AM in shallow water, just not many fish eating them so it was back to the clams for bait. Only caught 1 Bluefish so far and it's already May 15th!!! Has to be the worst Spring fishing for us that I has seen in 40 years.....Back at it tomorrow.

Worst fishing in 40 years. Coming from a seasoned longtime captain Im glad to hear an honest opinion. I feel the same way. When you read the small private charters reports you hear about the "red hot Raritan Bay striper fishing." Then when your out you see them trolling all day. In my opinion when everyone generally has to troll to catch fish in the bay the fishing sucks. Some days are always going to be on and some off but in 4 trips this year I had one decent day which was on trolling. That being said everyday generally someone finds some feeding fish. Last Friday bait fishing all day with at least 3 rods I had 3 or four runoffs not managing any to the boat. After a slow day I went to the troll on saturday and trolled ALL day in the bay. I caught 2 dinky schoolies and read very little on the machine. Not good in my opinion. Keep up the hard work Ron.
