I use my bucktail rod with 30 braid 30 floro ...and no more then 2 oz jig...1.5 oz is my preferred jig weight if the conditions are right . Been fishing this set up for 2 years and have been very successful.

Your bucktail setup should be fine as long as you can cast/pitch it away from boat.Think finesse.Object is to flip jig up current and let it tick bottom as it drifts ever so slowly back/ if it sticks up let it sit for a min then nudge it out...If you need more then 2 oz you minus well rig fish old school...I like 2 half crabs on jig..Might try a combo bait if bait thieves aren't fierce...Catch emm up🐟🐟🐟🐟😎
