Is this the correct link for the saltwater registry program in NJ? Can you be fined if you don't register? I've been approached on the beach a few times by rangers, but they never asked for it. Thoughts?

This is the link http://www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry/index.html

And yes, you can be fined for fishing without registering... However, all the times I’ve been boarded and checked back at the dock by NJDEP, I’ve never been asked to see my registry card.

Just an FYI for those of you fishing NY waters you need theirs too. Their registry goes from the date you registered to the same date the following year so don't get aggravated if it doesn't allow you to re register prior to your 2017 to 2018 card expiring.

Rangers are federal. Don't care about NJ law. Like USCG don't care if you have a NJ Boater Safety Certificate or not.
