fished saturday and sunday up the lake.we fished the shallow side and caught
shinners, bluegill, perch, crappie and yes some slime darts.it was great fishing for the 3rd and 4th of march.most of the fishing were taken on the bobber and jig but sunday the small husky jerks were catching a few fish too.most of the perch and crappie were small so ya had to weed thru them to put a good catch together.the colors we caught best on were yellow, pink and white.24" below the bobber and you had to work it back slow.at times it was cast and catch other times ya had to throw around and find them.all and all another good weekend on the big lake.

I think I saw you guys hiding in a the cove from the wind when I was driving around on Sunday.

Someone needs to fillet and grill that damn groundhog. Another 12" on the way. 70's in February was too good to be true.

That shallow water temp dropped so hard absolutely nothing would bite. Unreal. Couldnt even get a panfish to bite.

imagine after this mess its going to be a few days till they start biting again.i'll be up there saturday and sunday but don't expect to be catching much.

long range weather doesn't look very good either...nightly lows in the 20's and highs in the mid 30's for the next 10 days....grrr....i put a bounty on that damn groundhog

with a little help from the good Lord maybe we can get some sun shine.i'm sure
if we got some sun light that skinny water will warm fast.i will give the lake some time and start late morning and fish when the sun is at its highest.

that is par for the coarse when March fishing up there.hopefully those yellows will bite once the sun melts it away.going to tip the jig with a mousie and really
slow down the retrieve.all else fails i throw the sticks for darts.

skunked it up good.went saturday around 11am and all the spots i fish around the lake were iced up.the sun never showed and it never got up passed 33 degrees.had high hopes for sunday with all the sun.i waited till 1pm to make my way to the lake only to find more ice.the lake won this weekend for sure but hopefully next weekend.

with freezing night time temps and more snow in the forecast looks like that pesky ice will stick around for a bit the water temps are going to change too.

got some 50 degree & sunny days at the end of the week, should be enough to
get the ice off and melt some of this white stuff.

when i was out there earlier in the week i was in the boat and used the side imaging and went all around the docks. white fish marks all over the pilings. Not one good hit or hook up! They're there, but they can go a LONG time without eating when the water temp drops like this.

I'm sure there are still some out where they were ice fishing you might be able to do the same thing you did ice fishing, but i think for the most part they were transitioning and are now just sitting waiting for that temp to start warming up.

one bright side to the early thaw and all this snow is that the lake is at full pool already! http://www.njfishing.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://www.njfishing.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://www.njfishing.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

just S*Cks knowing their in the right spots but you can't get at them.just have to pray that this new storm dose not mess things up anymore.slow working a small husky jerk will be first choice.

there are plenty of slimers around the bridge.we had the perch and crappie
biting there heads off 2 weekends ago.it was mostly males but there were some good ones mixed in.was shaping up to be "one of those springs" until all these nor easters started blowing.
