It sucked, plain and simple. 5 barely keepers for the boat, and it was nasty out.

Sorry to hear that. I've heard some good reports from boats sailing out of LI, maybe yesterday they just weren't biting.
ANy idea if the open boat ling/cod trips will be any good? I'd guess a day trip staying with 20 miles of the coast won't pick up many cod, but maybe some ling and porgies?
I just have an itch to go fishing and I have never done blackfishing before and afraid I'd get skunked on one of those trips.

That is a perfect reason to go. Learning a new fishery only expands your options and keeps you on the water.

A long ride for a lot of money and no fish. The only worse thing would be an Adele concert.

We fished sun up to about 2 or so in the afternoon, that block island fishery is a lot like striped bass fishing, one day there are schools of fish everywhere then the next day they are gone. Just the luck of the draw for our trip.

Friday the Last Lady is running an open off shore wreck trip. Grandpa likes to travel out there.
I have always did good with Ralph.
With temps pushing Into the 40s it should be a nice day. Just wish I could get off of work.

when you fish block this time of year you need to drift with the bait schools.

Save your money.... There is nothing 20 miles out but probably dogs and bergals.
