Had off Tuesday and, due to recent reports, intended to hit the Valley. ;) Planned on hitting the mountain bike path and doing some shoreline fishing but wasn't sure about access from the path, distance, etc. Forecast called for mid 50'S and light wind so I decided to take the boat.

Launched around 11 to some pretty choppy conditions. Figured I'd troll some plugs along not to far from the shoreline to see if anything would take. After an hour or so I decided to switch gears. Made it far enough from the launch that I docked up and fished from shore. Tied on something a bit heavier, and shinier before I did. :D Anyway, less than 10 casts later I got whacked!! After a quick, but decent fight, I netted a 23" laker!! My first fish from the Valley and first lake trout.

The rest of the day the wind seemed to quiet down and I had a nice, fishless ride back in. Didn't matter, ones better than none! Felt good to check a new species off the list!!

Congrats on the laker! I've caught a bunch of fish out of the valley, but never a laker. Glad to see you got out on the water!!

Dude!!! That's a good sized Laker for that place these days! Looks nice and chubby! Way to get in some new water and make something happen! Seriously though! Great fish!!! Congrats on your first!!!:D

Nice Laker, congrats!

Best time of the year to go....not much pressure and not much going on elsewhere.

Very cool, congrats. Catching a Laker was on my list this year as well, glad we both were able to scratch it off.
