Finally the weather matched our schedule to get out on these big stripers! It wasn't fast and furious action, but the quality was there. And they were feisty! I've landed bigger stripers but the one pictured may have given me the best fight a striper has ever given me...really tough to control and it almost got me on the engine when i barely got my stubby arms over it haha.
And for good measure a whale was in the area as well and did a straight up verticle breach, mouth open, which i had never seen in person.
We also did some blackfishing, but that was slow as well. we only caught 8 in a few hours (5 on jig, 3 on bait rig) with one nice jigged keeper fortunately (18")...not sure how opening weekend will go, but so far it's been slow for us.
Smaller stripers 19-29" started pushing bait the the surface at the end of the day and we proceeded to land a handful more on various lures. Fun way to end the day after nabbing some quality fish in the morning.

Always hard to tell from pictures but I am looking at the size of the tail, mouth/head, and belly....I'm going to say 26 pounds :)....once those fish start pushing 35-40 lbs, they start rolling over in your arms and becomes hard to control them.

Haha I was close. Once you see enough of these things .... when these fish get 35-40lbs they tend to roll over in your hands, belly squished big time from your hand , and very hard to hold straight out in front of you.

Weird camera. The first picture looks photo shopped. The aura around the guy and the OB tilted up
